No heat right now?
Some causes are simple, like a thermostat setting or a tripped breaker. Try the quick checks before you call. They are safe for anyone to do.
Before the cold sets in
A few things to do every fall.
- Replace the furnace filter if it looks dirty.
- Switch the thermostat to Heat and make sure the system starts.
- Test your carbon monoxide and smoke alarms.
- Book a heating tune-up before you need the heat.

Heating questions
How often should a furnace or boiler be serviced?
Once a year. The fall is the best time, before the heating season starts.
My heat pump's outdoor unit has frost on it. Is that a problem?
Light frost in cold weather is normal, and the heat pump clears it with a defrost cycle. A thick layer of ice that stays, or ice on top of the unit, is worth a call.
Can a heat pump heat a home through a Massachusetts winter?
Many newer heat pumps are built for cold climates. Whether one is right for your home depends on the house and the system you have now, so we look before we recommend anything.
Do you work on water heaters?
Yes. We maintain, repair and replace water heaters.
