Ductless mini split installation
Heating and cooling for homes and rooms without ductwork. We look at your home, plan where each unit goes, and give you the price before any work starts.

Where mini splits make sense
A mini split has an outdoor unit and one or more slim indoor units, connected by a small refrigerant line that runs through a hole about three inches across. No ducts are needed, which is why they suit so many Massachusetts homes.
- Homes heated by radiators or baseboard, with no ducts for central air
- Additions, sunrooms and finished attics or basements
- Rooms that are always too hot or too cold
- Replacing window air conditioners for good
- Adding efficient heat alongside an oil, gas or electric system
Single zone or multi zone
A zone is an area with its own indoor unit and its own temperature setting.
Single zone
One outdoor unit and one indoor unit. Right for one room or an open area, like an addition or a finished attic.
Multi zone
One outdoor unit serving several indoor units, each set to its own temperature. Good for cooling or heating most of a house.
Your choice of indoor unit
Wall-mounted units are the most common. Ceiling and floor units suit rooms where a wall unit will not fit.

Mini split questions
Do mini splits heat in winter?
Most mini splits are heat pumps, so they heat as well as cool. Cold-climate models keep heating well below freezing. Many homes use them alongside a furnace or boiler, and some heat with them alone.
How many indoor units do I need?
It depends on the layout. Open areas can share one unit, while closed-off bedrooms usually need their own. We plan it room by room with you.
Are mini splits better than central air?
Neither is better everywhere. With good ducts, central air is the natural choice. Without them, mini splits are usually simpler. Read mini split or central air.
What maintenance do mini splits need?
Rinse the indoor filters every month or two when the system runs a lot, and have it cleaned and checked once a year. See mini split maintenance and repair.
